Power steering fluid

Left - Discovery , Right - Defender.

On most modern Land Rovers you have power steering which is a nice addition. It uses ATF hydraulic fluid. An similar reservoir is always fitted. Clean the reservoir and cap before removing. .

Unscrew the cap, wipe the dipstick clean and replace the cap without screwing it in. Remove it again and now you see the real level. It must be between the 2 markings. If not top up with ATF (automatic transmission fluid). The steering may not be operated without liquid. If you tear off or cut a line you must remove the drive belt to the pump or it will be damaged.
